Welcome to the online diary of a Central Oregon Grandmother (me) who is busy celebrating the positive portions of her everyday life ... along with her best friend husband (Cary). It is quite an eclectic diary and I try to do my best to incorporate a little bit of history into many of my posts. Your visit to our piece of American Pie is greatly appreciated. This chatty Kathy posts frequently, so coming back to visit often is highly encouraged.

The La Pine 2009 4th of July Parade:
The Pearl Harbor Veteran:
Okay, so I teared up over this guy. He is one of the last remaining Pearl Harbor survivors. He is 86 years old and decided to walk the whole length of the parade.
He made me proud. He made me feel American on the 4th of July.
He got me a bit stirred up with all the changes our government is now making. I think that our soldiers are/were fighting for the USA to become a better place to live, not a worse place to live.
At the very least the fighting was done to protect us and keep us as one nation and one country. It just seems like somebody is hell bent on giving it all away now. Okay, I'll shut up now.
This is his wife. Following him in the car, just in case he gets tired.
Hi, Best Friend Husband, let me take a picture of you. Oooh, you are kind of sweaty.
Okay, take a picture of me. Please don't aim it at the boobies.Oh well. Hey, Cary, look, there is Joe the Barber!
Joe, Joe, over here! Let me take your picture.
No, Joe, I am not going to kiss you! What would April think?
"Joe the Barber and His Girls" Float (That was the float's real name.)
Joe and April's dog Boots
Old Trucks:
These neat old trucks were all restored by the same man and his family who live in La Pine.
