Sunday Paviing....

Well, here it is, Sunday afternoon at 4:00. The hot asphalt is spread, and they are re-paving our road. A little action on this quiet day. The equipment is so heavy that it makes our house vibrate, and it is driving the dogs crazy. I never have liked the smell of hot tar, but this too shall pass, I'm sure. Just think of the good part ... a nice smooth road in time for winter.

Cary asked the paver guys why they are working on Sunday, and they said it is because it is supposed to snow tomorrow, so they are doing what they can today. More snow? My Accuweather.com has been sending me urgent messages suggesting a deep freeze from an arctic cold front, but I hadn't heard the news about possible snow. We'll just have to wait and see.

First they lay down the oil.

Then they dump a long pile of hot asphalt.

Then the green machine crushes,
spreads and vacuums up the excess.

One guy steers, on guy walks along side
(talking on his phone) and one guy hitches
a ride on the back, hopping off once in
a while to do an important task.

Close up of the green machine.

A shot of the green machine putting excess into the yellow machine, that also has the roller to smash everything down really well ... the paver, I'd guess you would call it.

Close up of the paver ... with
the hot tar smoke clearly visible.

Thanks, hard working paver guys for make our road nicer.
