Welcome to the online diary of a Central Oregon Grandmother (me) who is busy celebrating the positive portions of her everyday life ... along with her best friend husband (Cary). It is quite an eclectic diary and I try to do my best to incorporate a little bit of history into many of my posts. Your visit to our piece of American Pie is greatly appreciated. This chatty Kathy posts frequently, so coming back to visit often is highly encouraged.

La Pine Community Kitchen: Toys for Tots
Yesterday I dropped by the La Pine Community Kitchen with a couple bags of toys and gifts that I had made and collected over this past year. I was talking to Chris Riggs, the lady that has gotten the Community Kitchen this far so far. Chris took me into the two rooms full of toys and gifts, and it was amazing. There are many kids and adults who are going to be very happy tonight because of what is going on there.
Chris said that this year the Community Kitchen partnered with Toys for Tots International, who gave them a whole trailer full of gifts. There were lots of stuffed animals and handmade doll blankets and so many other things.
Today, Thursday from 12:00 to 3:00 there will be a Christmas dinner at the Community Kitchen and Santa will be there to hand out gifts to everyone. They are located on 16480 Finley Butte Road in La Pine (turn at the Sugar Pine Cafe and go down a few blocks). Their phone number is 536-1312.
There are several other organizations that are helping to make this Christmas brighter for families. S.C.O.O.T.E.R. (536-8398) and the La Pine Christmas Basket Association (536-2751) and the American Legion Post 45 along with the La Pine Moose Club and St. Vincent de Paul are also working very hard to bless others.
High Lakes Christian Church on Day Road is holding two candlelight services tonight, one at 4:30 and the other at 6:00 p.m. Their phone number is 536-3333.
Thank you to all of you nice people, and Merry Christmas to all!
