First I cut out the squares and sewed button in the middle of the flower. Then I sewed them on the machine, right sides together. After turning them inside out and ironing them, I filled them with birdseed. I couldn't find my small funnel, so I rolled up a piece of copy paper and taped it to use instead. I used the baking pans to hold the bean bags upright so they won't spill while waiting for me to sew them shut. I am going to bundle them in sets of 3, probably tying them up with rafia and ribbon.
I am so glad that I got over the hump and started sewing again! Sewing is an indicator of my state of mind. If I can sew, it means that I have some patience and feel productive. This fun, easy project got me in the mood to do some more sewing. I'll probably work on bags next, so that my cookie mixes will be complete and ready to go out the door.
I'll show you the bags when I get going on them. They are simple to make also.
My daughter could have used these a few weeks ago. She went to camp and was supposed to bring three beanbags for learning to juggle! I had a heckuva time finding the right thing. You are so clever!

ReplyDeleteThose are the prettiest bean bags I have ever seen! I guess they're not in stores much anymore, are they? No wonder Lisa had trouble finding them! My mom made some for my brother and me when we were little, but they were just plain navy blue. Someone cut holes in a cardboard box and we played Bean Bag Toss! Great idea, Kathy! And wow you really have sewing talent!
ReplyDeleteHi Becky, they now play them at tailgate parties ... they are called corn bags now instead of bean bags. Maybe I'll should go into business? They are easy and fun to make.
