Formal Christmas Tablescape/Tea Time Tuesday #9:

Welcome to another one of my tablescapes!  This one is a bit more formal than the others.  It is on the living room table, and I also redid the garland.  I might redo the tables again before Christmas, but the rest of the decorations are now staying the same.  Man, this blog keeps me busy.




















































I just want to say something special about this last ornament.  My Grandma J. made big things, like quilts and clothes.  When I was little, I was quite impressed with her talents ... and I still am.   My Grandma T. made smaller things, such as these beautiful velvet ornaments with stick pins and beads.  The funny thing is, it is Grandma T.'s dishes and ornaments that I notice throughout our home, especially during the Christmas season.  

Grandma T. used to have a flocked tree, covered with her handcrafted ornaments.  After she died, we divided them up.  I am so happy that I ended up with quite a few of them.  Some are on the tree and some are on the wreath above this tablescape.


Grandma took a foam ball, cut and attached slices of velvet (like you would slice an orange), and used beautiful trim and then long stick pins with beads for the final touches.



Thanks, both of you Grandma's, I miss you so much, along with Grandma Pearl (this will be our first Christmas without Cary's Grandma).

    Your post is a joyful collection of lovely and cherished ornaments, and I see a real love of all the things you are blessed by.

    I am originally from Klamath Falls and Oregon is one of our favorite get-away places, especially the coast.

    Your table setting is very nice,I especially like the little cobalt blue dish and the way all the bright colors mix well together.Great idea, the garland with decorations attached strung above the table. I just might steal this idea for next year. There are only so many ornaments our tree can hold....

    Thank you so much for your comment, and for sharing about yourself. Yes, Oregon is very beautiful. I grew up in Eugene and the coast was very close then. It is a bit longer drive now, but is always worth it.

    Every since I moved into this house I've put the garland by the window ... it just seems to call out for one.
