Living Room Before and After: Christmas 2010

Our tree goes into the dining room portion of our great room, and we don't have it up yet.   We have been enjoying the decorated living room since last week though.

Here are two previous posts that show you the close ups of the ornaments, if you want to check them out:

Tablescape #7: Santas and Snowmen

Hutch Top, Table Top Christmas Decorations

I entered this into Susan at Between Naps on the Porch's  Metamorphisis Monday.  Thanks, Susan!

Sometimes it is easy to get a bit overwhelmed when I look at the beautiful and fancy homes and decorations that are featured on some of these links.  Then I remember that there are many folks out there like me, who have been collecting their sentimental decorations over the years, and use them to make their regular homes prettier.  If you are like me, I encourage you to be brave and show your us your own stuff!  Our families are blessed when we try our best, as we hand down our own family traditions.  It is always about progress not perfection!

God bless,

Kathy

My favorite floor decorations now have even less space to lay around!  Our kids:  Sonny (black) and Dana (white) wish you a Merry Christmas.

  1. Love the new holiday look of your living room! Very festive. I also enjoyed seeing the living "deorations"--cute, four-legged family members! Happy holidays to you and your family.

  4. Hi Kathy, Simone and Anon.,

Thank you all for stopping by and saying hi.

Now I just have to get to work and get the tree up.

I hope all three of you have a wonderful week!

  5. You did a beautiful job, Kathy. I had to do a double-take on the hutch...it is identical to my Mama's, except for the upper glass doors (hers didn't have them). You work so hard to make your home warm and inviting...a true labor of love!

  6. Kathy, you have very lovely things and everything looks beautiful. And oh, you are so right: one might look at others' perfectly decorated and
'everything matching' holiday homes, which are beautiful, but the old-fashioned, much-loved heirloom items displayed are a million times better than any new things with which one might decorate. :)
    Best,
    Gloria
