Vintage San Antonio Postcards (c.1944)

Looking through my treasure trove of "The Letsom Letters",  I came across these vintage postcards of San Antonio.  Except for the very last one, they were all made by the San Antonio Card Co. in San Antonio, Texas.  A bit of research shows that the production dates of these postcards began in 1944.  I don't know if I am right on that though; postcards are not my specialty.  I hope that you enjoy them as much as I do!

"The Alamo"

"Mission San Juan de Capistrano Aquaduct and Gardens"

"Mission de la Purisma Conception"

"San Fernando Cathedral"

"Moonlight on the San Antonio River"
Early River Walk

"Houston Street, Looking East"

"Fort Sam Houston, 1 Quadrangle"

"Cadet Barracks, Randolf Field, San Antonio, Texas"

"Open Air Theater in Brackenridge Park"

"The Oak Guest Lodges"

  1. I love those old postcards. I've tried to collect some from where we live now that were made in that same era. The colors are just so mellow, for lack of a better word.

  2. Kind of sad that those days are almost gone. They were the original "tweet" by condensing a lot into a few words. I still have a friend who enjoys sending them.

  4. Thanks for the nice comments on the wedding--so glad it is over-fun but stressful. Love the old postcards from San Antonio. Gosh, I'd sure like to be strolling down along the River Walk right now! Have a great weekend. Mickie :)
