Graduations, Grandkids and Travels:

Hello Friends!

I'm finally finding some time to post about our trip to Washington last weekend.  This is long, but it is mostly pictures.

Two of our grandchildren graduated this year.  Halie graduated at the end of May, and Cary flew out to attend the ceremony.  Here is her announcement:

Halie will be attending college this fall, and is pursuing a career in nursing.  Congratulations, Halie, we are both very proud of you.

On Thursday, June 13, we drove up to Washington for Chase's graduation.  It was a lot of fun, and there was a gathering at the house afterwards.

This was our view of the ceremony.  We were sitting on the second floor bleachers, and I took most of my pictures through the railing, in the dark.  That in mind, Shanna and I thought that I did pretty well with how things turned out.

Chase was so happy, and was beaming the whole evening.  He is really a neat guy.

Getting ready for the family pictures ...

That picture cracks me up!

Henry sure is eying that soda.

Grandpa Cary is awfully proud.

So am I.

It was fun seeing my Facebook friend, Lisa R.

Cheri and her Dad.

This is our grandson, Garret, with his cool new blond hair.

Johnny, Jordon and Gage make Smores
around the fire-pit in the backyard.

During our stay, we watched Johnny and Collin play basketball.  Quote of the day from Johnny to Collin, "You think that you are doing pretty good, but you are forgetting that you are almost 6' tall and are 4 years older than I am."  Amen!

On Friday, Cary got up early and visited with some of his old friends.  I slept in until 8:45 a.m., and it has been years since I did that.  Later that day, Cary and I took a field trip to the Washington State Patrol Academy.  He was the first graduating class at this current facility, back in 1970.  I will do a whole post on it soon, but here are a few pictures.  It was really a neat place.

Cary's friend Freddie gave us a tour of the driving course and some other areas.  He is such a nice person.

Later that afternoon, while the LaBranches were attending another celebration, Cary and I went to the casino and over the course of our visit I won enough to keep me busy and buy us the seafood buffet.  He broke even.

We got up the next morning, said good-bye, and drove down to Lake Oswego to watch our 6-year-old grandson Gage play in a baseball tournament.

I loved this sign.  It was a gentle reminder to be nice.

Garrett and his friend Grant were
watching their little brothers play.

This All Star traveling team is made up of kids between the ages of 6 and 9 years old.  Gage is the youngest, and he is a natural at the game.  I'm not just saying that either.

We watched two games that day.

We stayed overnight in a hotel that looked good but wasn't and then drove back home the next morning.  I am deciding whether or not to do a post on it or not.

I was so tired that I slept most of the way home, and then just laid around after we got here.

I am finally getting over my cold, and am going to clean house today.  We have friends coming over for burgers this afternoon.  The weather is nice after a rainy week, and I have so much to do!

Making this post was on my list, and I am glad that it is done.  It is only 7:15 a.m., so I am making good time so far.

I hope that you are all doing well and that you are enjoying your weekend!

  1. Such a handsome family -- my goodness, you people know how to make 'em out there on the west coast! Glad you're over your cold -- is school out for the summer? Rest up, rest up!

  2. You have a lovely family and your pride and love for them shines through this post.

We don't have graduations here in the UK so it's interesting to see what happens elsewhere.

    Your trip sounds wonderful.
