Tyler Matthews and TCU:

Randy, Tyler, Cameron, Jen and Halie

Well it is officially announced, and the word is out:  our grandson Tyler has been given a verbal offer by TCU to be their QB.  Texas Christian University came in second in the nation this past season. (Auburn was first, and the University of Oregon was third).  Here is a link to TCU's Rose Bowl championship video:  Go Frogs!

What is more amazing about this whole thing is that Tyler is still a junior at McPherson High School in Kansas.  He could be TCU's quarterback, beginning his career with the college during the 2012 season if it works out that way.

Tyler has been so focused, worked so hard, and is blessed with remarkable talent.  He is known for throwing his famous "bullets", and Coach Young at McPherson said that Tyler is the best passing quarterback that he has coached in his forty years of coaching.

Grandpa Cary and I, along with everybody else who knows and loves Tyler are just bursting with pride.  Way to go, Tyler!  You rock.  We love you lots, and from Oregon are celebrating with you, your Dad, Mom, Cameron and Halie, Grandpa Hal and Grandma Bev!

  2. Wow, what an exciting achievement. Where is TCU? Is it in Houston? (I have a daughter in Austin.) I hope you get to watch him play!

  3. Hi Lynn and Laraine,

Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughts. We are so proud. TCU is in Ft. Worth, TX

I don't know, we may have to get some internet thingy so we can watch him when we can't be there. This past season, we listened to the games on the local radio station through the computer.

Take care, and have a great rest of the weekend!
