Book Blurb Friday #18 : "In The Shadows"

Ever since the accident, 98-year-old Aunt Gert could no longer see the world in color.  Gert realized that she should be grateful that she could see at all, and of course, she was.  Still, she missed the colors of the plants, flowers, sunsets and everything else. 

The world was strange in muted black, white, and gray tones.  Gert saw faces now, where she hadn't before.  Nature faces, tree spirits, and the like.  For example, right this moment, under the entry mirror above the table, there were several images seeming to seek her attention.  Her twin, Myrtle, informed her that they were not really there, but Gert could accurately sense them.  

It was only when their caregiver, Justine-the-Psychic moved in, that the shadow faces and their voices became a reality within the entire household.  This entertaining thriller draws the reader swiftly along, as these women uncover the history of their home.   (150)

    Oh yes - the monochrome angle is perfect and the uncovering of the history of the house PLUS thriller very enticing. AND you have twins as well!

    Took me three tries to get to your blog and your blurb, but I'm glad I kept trying. Histories of old homes are always fascinating and are often thrillers of a very special sort. Looks like a good book, Kathy.

    Very cool twist on the photo. I know you see faces in a lot of things (my dad did too, as you know) and I like the concept you've expanded here. After reading your blurb I studied the photo, and now I can see faces, too!

    Ooooooooooo, chilling!!! I love a deep dark scenario like this, I'd buy and make sure all the lights are on when I read about the faces and voices.

    Kathy--How clever that you took the tones of the photo and made that the basis of the story. I would be interested in finding out the history of the house. Well done!

    What a creative angle to this story. It really does fit with the picture. I'd love to learn more about that house and the spirits that are in it.

    Thank you, everybody. This would be fun to write I think. I would make sure that everybody lives until the end, and that there are only people ghosts and nothing demonic so it wouldn't get to scary. Maybe my hours of watching the Ghost hunting shows will pay off, lol?

    Oh, this just sound intriguing, Kathy! A lot of history tied up in this old house and the memories of these long-lived women!

    It is funny that a few of us saw twins in these tales. Thank goodness for these memes to jump-start our writing...LOL!
