Kristin's Birthday Party:

My baby girl, Kristin, turned "29 for the first time!" this past weekend.  Kylie and I drove to Eugene to help her celebrate.  The party was an open house, from Noon to 10 p.m.  Kylie and I arrived at 10:30 and then left for the two hour drive back home at 4:00.

The house was decorated with beautiful flower arrangements that Kristin had received as birthday gifts, and festive balloons.

I brought Kristin's baby book and three photo albums of when the girls were little.  Kari, Kristin and Rick were my first little family.  Before we headed out to the party, I posted on Facebook an album for Kristin that included Nigel and Cary too.  In Kristin's baby book, we found this letter from my Grandma J., who was visiting in Arkansas when Kristin was born.  It is so sweet!

There was lots of yummy food.  Kari barbecued us some cheeseburgers, but I didn't get a picture of that.

And, of course, there was a birthday cake.  Kristin's friend Sandy brought it.  It was really yummy.  She used a white cake mix, substituted sour cream for water, and added maraschino cherries and chocolate chips.  Delicious!

Here are a few other pictures that we took that day:

And so was Boomer.

It was a really fun day and was so good to touch base with everybody.  I always come away from my family with a major hit of  love when we get together.  It is fun to tell stories and do "remember when?"  We sure did miss having Nigel and Cary being there with us though.

Happy Birthday, Sis, love you lots!

  1. It's wonderful when family is a source of happiness! You are fortunate (and so am I) to have that. Looks like you all had a ball. Except maybe the dogs...

  2. Now that looks like a great party day. I love the idea of "29 for the first time". Ah the good old days when that seemed to be a milestone.
Too bad the dogs didn't get to sneak some goodies. I mean really--jail???

  4. Happy Birthday to Kristin!! She looks so beautiful in her pretty white dress!! I am, however, mad at you for not taking a pic of the cheeseburger for me!! :|
    (only kidding!)
And I thought I was getting to know your family, but now who's Shannon, baby Kylee & Kylie?? (although Shannon does look familiar...) And how is Grandma Jody related??? Your ex's Mom? (and was that him in the photos?) OK, enough nosy questions! LOL!
Anyway, looks like it was a great party with lots of nice relatives and friends!
    Best,
    Gloria

  5. Hi Kathy, boy are you right about that! I'm glad that you have the same thing in your family too.

Hi Patti, it was really fun. You are right, living through it we were all so young that we never considered that someday we would be looking back on those days. The dogs were fine, lol! They have a great pen, and peeps went out to smoke and visit with them. Grover is still a puppy and would have been, literally, bouncing off the walls if he was inside.

  6. Sally, thank you! It was really nice, and so are they ... that cake was yummy.

Gloria, thank you too ... you are so silly ... well the buns weren't there yet when I got mine, so I didn't even think of taking a picture of the cheeseburger in paradise. Shannon and Baby Kylee are friends of Kari and Kristin. Kylie is our granddaughter on Cary's side. She has been staying with us off and on this summer and learning the ropes at our work. Grandma Jody is MY Mom!

  8. RG ... thank you! My camera is a Sony Cybershot, Super Steady Shot, full HD 1080, MPEGmovieVX DSC-H7 with a 15x zoom. I just wrote down everything that I could find on it, lol. It is about 3 years old. Those outdoor pictures were taken with the High Sports Shooting setting. I tend to love using that particular setting.
