Book Blurb Friday #38: Fairy Tales Do Come True ...

Oregon Gifts of Comfort and Joy ~ Kathy Matthews

The sunset on the Biloxi beach was breathtaking.  Vicki took off her bikini and followed her husband Terry into the warm water of the gulf.  They swam out to where it was chest high, stood up and smiled at each other.  Today was their 20th wedding anniversary.  Three children later, they couldn't believe their luck in choosing one another as lifetime mates.  It had always been true love between the two.

Damn it!  It was that stupid dream again.  Vicki awoke and wiped away her tears angrily as she realized that today would have been their anniversary.  Why did that jerk have to go and leave them anyway?  Here she was, dealing cards at The Beau Rivage casino, and doing her best to raise the kids single-handedly.

Maybe fairy tales sometimes do come true, but in her case they sure hadn't.  Vicki was due for a new prince charming.  (150)

Thank you to Joe Claro, Lisa's husband for this week's fantastic photo!  BBF is fun, and you can play too.  Pretend that the picture of the river is the cover of a book.  On the inside jacket, you have 150 words to entice the reader to buy your book.  Lisa Ricard Claro gives us a week to think about next week's entry (she's gracious like that).  Please CLICK HERE  to read what everybody else wrote!

Thank you very much for your continued prayers for Lisa's nephew Daniel and his friend, who were burned in a house fire last week.  The other day, Lisa posted this update on her blog about the two teens:

"Great news about Daniel! He's off the respirator and is eating JELL-O and chicken soup. Yay! He is still quite sedated, but his prognosis is excellent. The worst part for him now is the changing of the dressings which takes about 90 minutes and is excruciating. He will be in the hospital for many weeks while his healing is monitored and it is determined if/when skin grafts should be done.

The young lady is still in ICU and on a respirator. She has contracted pneumonia which is complicating her chance for recovery.

Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated!"

  1. Loved your blurb. Was really hoping the happy couple would stay together happily ever after! But then there's always another Prince Charming.

I'm still sending love waves to Daniel, his friend and families.

  2. Ooh, this blurb will have readers wanting to know if a single mom working at the Bellagio can find true love in downtown Las Vegas.
And, you're right, Kathy, we mustn't forget Lisa's nephew and his friend. I'm so glad he's recovering, and so sorry she has developed complications.

  3. Thanks, Lynn!

Thank you Kay ... I made a slight change after your comment ... I was thinking that there was a Belligo in Biloxi, but it is really The Beau Rivage. My ex-husband and I stayed there one night on our trip to that area. I had two words to spare, so I changed it to make it more clear. Thanks though, your idea would have given it a whole other twist. Maybe she'll end up transferring to Vegas some day?

  4. What a tease, leading us on with that dream. When the prince arrives on the scene, I'm guessing reality will be every bit as good. I certainly would be taking out my wallet for this one.

  5. I have a feeling I'll enjoy the book whether she finds him or not!

  6. Aw, I was hoping it was a long time romance, and then you went and tossed reality in there. Well, at least I know she's got a romance in her future. I like the casino connection, too. Having lived in Vegas that is a hook for me. :)
