Rosa stood on the street, contemplating the stairs of the back alley. At 76, she wasn't sure how much longer that she would be able to use this particular route to access her back door with a bag of groceries. On one hand, it was a short-cut, saving her from walking the rest of the way around the block to the front door, but those damn stairs were taking a toll on her knees.
A moment later, a young girl came running down the steps, hysterically screaming "HELP ME!!!", placing Rosa smack-dab into the middle of danger and drama that she would have never previously believed possible.
Kathy Matthews' first novel of kidnap, intrigue and survival in a small Italian village is a fascinating must read. You won't be disappointed! (131)

Wow, Kathy! You did a GREAT job in your "blurb!!!" I'd want to read more of your story! Maybe you are not only an accomplished photographer, but a gifted writer, as well! I'm serious. You might start thinking about a new career. :)

You got me! I really thought this was a book written by you and what captured me was the idea of a woman that age ( so much closer to my age than I want to admit ) dealing with the stairs and everything else life might dish out, especially intrigue and mystery!
ReplyDeleteAh! An adventure story about a feisty old lady! About time! I'd read every word and applaud all the way, throwing the book at the head of the next burglar I meet!
ReplyDeleteHave to admit my first thought was admiration for the stair climbing - but how heartening to learn that there is still the opportunity for intrigue and adventure ... would want to know more.

ReplyDeleteI love nontraditional heroines. I'd be grabbing this one off the shelf and reading it at stop lights. A wonderful book idea that should inspire readers of many generations.
