The Charlie Brown Tree:

Hey There, Friends!

I don't know about you, but getting ready for Christmas this year has been a struggle.  I finally got the tree up and decorated (with help from Cary getting it in the stand).  The top two sections of our 9' tree is all that we ended up using.  I brought those in from the garage last week and put them together, and then they layed around on the dining room floor with boxes of decorations for a full week.  I couldn't get Cary interested in bringing in the bottom of the tree (he has been worn out going back and forth to the nursing home 45-60 minutes away, depending on how much snow is on the ground).

Then, I got a pinched nerve in my neck and couldn't do anything all weekend long.  But, that is all over with now, I am only dealing with the beginning of a cold at this point.  I have meds for that.

So, here it is.  I used all the ornaments that I had on the big tree, and this little awkward tree is crammed full to make up for the perfect shape.  I used the base of a patio umbrella and the handle from a toilet plunger to make sure it wouldn't tip over.  It is about 5 1/2 feet tall, so I didn't need a ladder.  A lot of the lights didn't work, so I improvised with some outdoor lights and a string of blinking colored lights.

Cary loves it!  I said do you love it because you love small trees, or because you didn't have to haul the base from the garage?  He said, both.  Cary thinks it is beautiful and he told me that I am an artist.  Since I work for praise, that made me feel that it was all worth it.

The angel above is one that my son made in first grade.  We call her our LaChance angel, after a little daycare girl I had that always had messy hair and an attitude.  She will forever be remembered in this family.

I set up several vignettes around the living room.  It is almost time to take everything down already, but I am doing my best to psych myself up.  I am so far behind on shopping, wrapping, etc.
