Rural Store Near Summers, Arkansas:

I couldn't help but to add a second Sepia Saturday post this week.  Right now, I seem to be posting up a storm...the ideas are flowing once again.  This one an easy read though:

My Dad, Ralph, is the little tow-headed guy in the middle.  These kids are standing in front of a rural store.  At the time this picture was taken, my Grandparents, Delmer and Agnes Summers Johnson, along with Dad, were living in Summers, Arkansas.  This photo was taken around 1939.

So, there you are, my friends.  If you enjoyed this story, please visit my Sepia Saturday friends by "CLICKING HERE" to find other neat photos and stories. To read more about my family and other stories featuring old photos, memories and more, please look for this picture of me and my dad on the left-hand sidebar to read whatever else catches your fancy.  Thanks so much for visiting!

  1. Kathy, this is a wonderful picture. It is amazing of the lives our family before us lived, and when we can see it in their old photos.

  5. General stores seem to attract dogs. And the Coca Cola ads look the same thru the years. Nice picture!

  6. That is one rough'n'tumble store, but also it's a great look into the lives of your family.

  7. Great post. I really like old photos. Although, I love how my parents look today, I really enjoy seeing photos of them in their prime.

  17. Old, vintage family photos are always beautiful. So many things to discover. Your dad looks cute! The two people sitting in the doorway, are they your grandparents?

  20. Another great photograph. And that's the nice thing about blogging - when the ideas and inspiration flows you can post as much as you like, and when the stream slows you can go with the flow.

  21. I think that is a Dr. Pepper sign. I went to college in Waco, Tx., home of Dr. Pepper. I guess the drink made it to Arkansas by 1939. I love these old pictures!
