On Friday afternoon, my daughter Kari and our grandson Casey (along with their dog Boomer) drove over from Eugene to spend the weekend with us.
We had a wonderful visit, ate good food, and Kari caught up on her laundry. We also exchanged Christmas presents, and she took the ones for the rest of the family back over with her. We also sorted through a huge box of loose family pictures and made piles for my girls, my son, his brothers, his father and a pile for me. She hauled those back over to Eugene too.
On Saturday, Casey, Kari and I drove into Bend for some shopping and lunch. Kari bought a couple new outfits for work, and we had a nice lunch at Applebees.
Two of the gifts that I received were the necklace and earrings in the picture above. They are special, because the beads were made from recycled newspaper by girls in Uganda. They are very pretty.
Later that night, we all hung out and watched a Law and Order Marathon. Dana and Boomer too.
The left around 3:00 yesterday, and Cary and I watched the Superbowl. I was rooting for San Francisco, because they now have former Oregon Duck, La Michael James on the team, and also because they are more local for us. They did catch up after the lights came back on after halftime, but The Ravens still won. The Ravens probably outplayed the 49ers most of the game anyway, and I don't begrudge them ... they are a great team!
I really didn't like the halftime show. Usually, I pay it no mind, but as one of my friends said, all Beyonce needed was a pole. There were many good commercials, and I liked the Taco Bell and Tide ones a lot. I know that I missed quite a few. The tennis shoe one did make me want to buy a pair, and I am actually in the market for some.
Speaking of sports, and speaking of grandkids, a couple of weeks ago our grandson Johnny was in a basketball tournament and his team took first place:
Johnny is number 33, the third from the end (on the right). Way to go, Johnny!
Well that is my news. It is still pretty and averaging 45* during the day around here now. We'll see what the week brings. I hope that you all have a great one!

What a wonderful full weekend you had. Love having family come for a visit. I miss mine so much. I look forward to seeing them in a few week and when I fly down for my birthday. Love that you went through photos that must have been so fun.

What a great weekend! We had a busy one, too. College visit with my son, lunch with a friend, and a Superbowl party at some friends'. I was rooting for the 49ers, too, as that was my favorite team when I lived in CA. But I agree, the Ravens did outplay them just enough. Good game, though. Now I need a rest from my weekend.

ReplyDeleteWe had a busy weekend too: Grandkids Friday afternoon, an antique show Saturday, and a full schedule Sunday, as you see on my blog. I didn't watch the halftime show, and didn't really watch much of the game either. Seattle beat SF badly late in the season, and lost to the Ravens in the playoffs. I couldn't choose which team enough to care who won.

ReplyDeleteYour necklace is so cool. Newspaper, eh? My friend went on a mission trip to Africa and brought back samples of beaded jewelry being produced by a group of women as an industry to stimulate economic independence for them. All those tiny beads and intricate patterns are mind-boggling.
