Fishing Was Good Yesterday at Paulina Lake:

Yesterday, Cary and our new nephew Cody got up early with plans to get on the boat and go fishing.  Instead, we discovered that we had no power in the 5th wheel (two mornings in a row).  There was not even enough to let the fridge switch to propane, so the carbon monoxide detector began to beep and before we could figure out what was going on, the fumes were awful.  I finally turned the fridge completely off, and Cary drove down to La Pine to buy new batteries.

Meanwhile, Cody fished off of the bank of our campsite, and I tried to keep the dogs quite outside at 5:30 a.m. so that we wouldn't wake anybody else in the campground up.  Not an easy task!

Trailer finally fixed, Cary's brother Larry and his fiance Karla got up and about and eventually the fishing trip began.

Captain Larry.

The lovely Karla.

Fishermen Cary and Cody.

Cary holding a brown trout.  He eventually caught the largest fish of the day,a 20" rainbow trout.

Cody did very well.

Heading back to camp.

The unloading of the boat is also part of the deal.

Cary drags the fish out of the live well.

Score!

It was a group effort.

cooks us dinner over the campfire.

Yum!

Johnny enjoys camping.
Now I just need to get some photos of myself!

We came home for the night to relax and watch t.v.  Yesterday was so busy, fun (and hot), that we just wanted to lie around on our couches and sleep in our own bed.  We are heading back up in a little while.

Hope that you are all having a wonderful weekend!  I will be by to visit  you as soon as I can.

Hugs,

Kathy M.

I wanted to comment on the eagles in your last post, but this post is nearly as nice (tell Cary that he's not quite as handsome as that eagle, but close enough!) Looks like a lovely weekend.

Those fish look delicious! Did Dana and Johnny get to share? :) Sounds like you made the best of an awkward situation.

It's been a long time since I drowned any worms or went camping or boating. It looks like you had a terrific time. Great pics! There is NOTHING quite as good as fresh-caught fish cooked over a campfire. (Unless it's using the fish heads to catch some crabs to go along with that fish dinner.)
