Texas Trip: The First Day
Flying to San Antonio, Our Room, Reuniting with Family, The Rainforest Cafe
We parked our car in long term parking and took the red bus to the Portland International Airport. While on the plane awaiting take off, we watched some F15 fighter jets fly overhead.
I took some pictures out the window during our flight to Dallas/Ft. Worth. They are not that good, but I made an attempt.
It was dark when we landed in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Our plane was running late, but it was all on American Airlines, and they waited for us to get there before taking off to San Antonio. After landing in our destination city, we took a taxi to the Hyatt Regency hotel. Our cab driver was very quiet, and not very friendly. We gave up on conversation with him, but it only seemed like a 10 minute ride anyway.
We met up Randy, Jen, Tyler, Halie, Cameron, with Hal and Bev (Jen's folks) as soon as we arrived, and put our stuff in our room. The room was pretty darn nice. There was a special group rate for the players and those participating in the Combine and the Army All American game. Instead of $230.00 per night on up, it was only $112.00 per night. Our room was only one floor up, making it very convenient.
There was a glass elevator that made access to all eleven floors easy.
Halie and Cameron were staying in Hal and Bev's room. They went with them to watch movies, and Tyler came with us next door to the Rainforest Cafe. Nice place, nice people.

The Matthews Men
I ordered a guacamole cheeseburger (which helps to explain this belly) and took a quick look around. If you get the chance to go to one of these places, it is really kind of magical.
After dinner, we went back to our room, visited a bit with our Kansas family and then went to sleep. It was a long, good day.
