Friday Photo Trip #2: Fall River Fish Hatchery With Kylie

Oregon Gifts of Comfort and Joy, Kathy Matthews

After we left the Fall River Campground (see more about that in the post below this one), we drove back the way we came for a few miles until we reached the Fall River Fish Hatchery.

The Tour:

Remember, you can click on any photo in this blog to enlarge it for better viewing.  The Fall River Fish Hatchery is a place where they grow fish and then release them into the wild.

This is one of the buildings where they hatch the fish eggs and keep them until they get big enough to put into the ponds.

The river is not very wide at this point, nor is it very deep.  Across the river is a subdivision named Fall River. Not shown are homes where hatchery employees live, on site.

Wires are stung across the holding ponds so that birds can not swoop down and catch a fish for an easy meal.

A hatchery employee feeds the fish.  They have food that you can buy for .25 a handful, which we did, but he also gave us a Dixie cup full each.  That was nice of him.  We really wanted the cups most of all.  The fish food was stinky, and Kylie froze her fingers when she went to wash them off!

Though it is the end of January, it was a beautiful day for fishing.

What a wonderful time we had at the Fall River Fish Hatchery.  I hope that you enjoyed our visit too.  These photos and others will be in a slide show soon, and it will be posted at the top of this page for a while.  After that, it will be moved to my slide show blog, located on the sidebar.
