A - Z Challenge: "E" is for Elephant

During the month of April, I am participating in the Blogging From A-Z April 2012 Challenge, where we post everyday except for Sundays. I have decided to make flashcards for the letter of the day out of my photos, and then use the picture as a writing prompt.  I have been using my Thesaurus to look up words beginning with the letter "E" and have based my story on what I have found.

Thank you for your visit, and please come back again tomorrow!  I'll be by to visit those who leave me comments, and also visit as many others as I can.  If you like what you see, please feel free to become my newest follower.  ~ Kathy M.

Oregon Gifts of Comfort and Joy ~ Kathy Matthews

"Elliott's Big Day"
by Kathy Matthews

Elliott was Emily's first born.  She had eagerly awaited his arrival, and earnestly took her role as a mother enthusiastically and with ease.  Emily kept an eagle eye on her son, and had a earthy parenting style.

Even though Elliott was born early, he was an easygoing elephant.  He loved to eat and was growing quite effortlessly.  His education was effective and he was learning and perfecting new skills each day.

A new baby is an exemption for the little zoo in Eugene and the earnings from the elephants were extreme.  Elliott's big day had finally arrived.  Elliott was about to embark on meeting more than zoo employees.  Elliott was going to emerge to the public, and Emily was more than just a little emotional about the whole event!

Following the theme of the of the alphabet, I am also featuring this out-of-print book created by a couple of Oregon ladies in 1983.  Please come back tomorrow to see the next page in the series:

I'm not sure I'm old enough for an elephant birth. Your posts are so clever and they are cracking me up.
