Paulina Lake Lodge is located northeast of La Pine, Oregon, in the Newberry Crater Caldera.  Cary and I enjoy going there throughout the summer.  It is only about a 20 minute drive from our house, and we are transported into another world in that short of time.  Not only is there Paulina Lake, but right next to it is East Lake.  There is the Big Obsidian Flow, Paulina Falls, Paulina Peak and more.

Every year, at the end of the summer season, Paulina Lake Lodge holds an old-fashioned pig roast, with a live band and lots of fun.  We had fresh roast BBQ pork, coleslaw, beans, and more.  The food was delicious, of course!  Sorry that I didn't take close-ups of it.  The band is usually J.P. and The Soulsearches, who play frequently on Sundays at the lodge throughout the summer.

Even if you skim through this long post, please take 10 seconds to watch these little boys.  I can't believe that I caught this on my camera.  It may have been the first video that I had taken with it.  They are so cute:

The Peeps Having Fun:

It was cold and windy that day;
you can see how we were all bundled up.

Kathy, you people have such great times, such fun, I think I am moving to Oregon! Seriously, I have always wanted to go to a "Pig Roast" -- I don't know anyone who has ever had any though, unfortunately. I wish you would have taken more pics of the food though! ;) And my favorite photo is the one where I think it is your husband by the firepit... that looks so cozy, plus the background view is absolutely stunning of the lake and the trees. Thanks for sharing this, it was fun AND beautiful!
Best,
Gloria

You know Kathy, I get very jealous when I see photos like that because I live in a city and in fact we have no countryside in my country - it's just one big city! I would love to spend time by a lake right now!

By the way, did I ever tell you I went to Oregon once and absolutely loved it!

Thank you, Gloria!

Grace, I've never lived in a big, big city before. If you ever make it to Oregon, I'll give you the grand tour.

You too, Gloria. :>)

Take care, you two.

Hi Lynn, thank you. That was my Grandma J.'s, and now goes to my son when he gets his own home some day.
