The Letsom Letters: Vintage Easter Postcards

These postcards were sent to my Great-Great Grandfather, John Letsom between 1913 and 1919.  His birthday was March 13th, and to help him celebrate it in 1915, his friend Sue Burt organized a card shower for Grandpa John.  Since his birthday was near Easter, some folks sent him Easter cards.  We have around 100 birthday postcards of his that were included in "The Letsom Letters".

Oh my, how interesting. I have a blogging friend who grew up in Oregon but now lives in Seattle who also posted a vintage Easter card. I emailed your blog link to her.

She has Oregon blood in her veins along with Washington blood. I'd like you to visit her blog. lindaletters.blogspot.com
She has a wonderful blog.

Those Letsom Letters are proving real treasure store. What a pity we don't send cards like these any more

Happy Easter, Kathy! I hope you had a wonderful holiday. And aren't these postcards just wonderful? And you know what amazes me? That they were addressed with only your Great Great Grandfather's name, town and state, and they arrived! I wonder how many people lived in his town at that time... and if they had their own post office... Well, there's something for you to find out for your family, Detective Kathy! ;)
Best,
Gloria

wow these cards are fantastic, Kathy. I also love looking at the old stamps. You know I have a weakness for mail stuff!

Wanted to also let you know I haven't been commenting but I do still read your posts. I did want to comment on the one about the drop in blog traffic and Pinterest but I read it on my phone and hate writing on the cell! You will have noticed I've totally ignored my blog for months. It takes too much time - time that I now waste on Pinterest! Oh yes, I'm one of those people... I hope you and your family are well. Take care!

Hi. It's Linda from Linda Letters. Thanks for visiting my site. I love it that Linda in Portland facilitated the connection.
We have old postcards from my husbands family and they are wonderful. His grandmother kept everything! These cards are so lovely.
I grew up in the Willamette Valley and attended school in Molalla. Oregon is definitely in my blood. I'll be adding your blog to my list.
