This is the third post in a series about our visit to Train Mountain in Chiloquin, Oregon over the 4th of July weekend. It was so much fun, and it was free (they do accept donations).
Train enthusiasts from around the world come to work on the miles of tracks. The tracks are on a 1:7 scale.
There was a snack bar and a gift shop, and lots of places to sit and view the little trains.
We didn't ride on this one, but these pictures show what the trains are like:

There are many sights to see. Miniatures of all sorts kept us entertained along the way:
We even saw a hobo:
Many animals greeted us, just like this family of ducks:
We were astounded by the rare sight of dinosaurs!
Aliens were all over the place:
The tunnel was pretty cool and very dark:

The train seats are boat seats. Pretty good thinking guys.
We came back to the yard and took some more pictures. This is the neatest place for young and old alike. There is a train museum next door, but it is closed on Saturday. The train rides are only offered on Saturday, and the same volunteers take care of both sites.

If you get the chance, go! There are no signs from Highway 97 because ODOT won't let them put one up, but take the road across the street from the gas station and drive a mile or so. Easy peasy!

How lovely and your pictures capture the atmosphere so well.
I'm not big on trains, but my kids would've gone nuts for this place when they were younger. I love how whimsical it is! And this is a random statement, but the green on the cab of your first photo is so vibrant. It caught my attention immediately.
Sally and Lisa, this place was magical and very uplifting. It was developed by and run by volunteers. They have 25 miles of track, so you can imagine how much hard work that they have done to pass along their train passion.
