Saturday's Drive Home from Rainbow/Blue River:

It was gorgeous on Saturday morning as we left the upper McKenzie Valley.  We went to Delta Campground right off the highway as you turn to go into the Cougar Recreation Area.  It is so pretty there.  We have camped there a couple of times in our trailer.  The campground itself is now closed for the winter, but it is a nice drive with lots of pictures to be taken before you get to the gate.

This is an old growth forest that has been left alone for the most part.  I'll get together a post on this campground and put it on my The McKenzie River Valley website soon. http://ogocaj7.blogspot.com/

We stopped and filled up with gas at Harbicks Country,  Store (which offers the last gas for 50 miles) and then headed towards the pass.  We stopped at Olallie Campground, where we had never been before.   We will for sure go back there.  And camp. With the trailer.  It is just plain beautiful there.

These were taken at the upper level campground:

Then we left the McKenzie and started driving towards Sisters.  I took several pictures by holding my camera out the window.  I lucked out; some of them turned out well.  But Cary froze.  Sorry, honey.  I will be posting some more photos and information about this on my Central Oregon website soon.  http://ogocaj25.blogspot.com/

Thanksgiving Weekend 2009:

What a wonderful weekend I had with my best friend husband and my extended family!  One of the best Thanksgivings I have ever had.  We drove over to Eugene on Thursday morning to meet up with my Mom's side of the family, as we do each year.  There are usually between 50 and 60 of us in the fellowship hall at Mom's church.

I have posted a few pictures below, but there is a slide show at the top of this page with many more.

We drove up the McKenzie and stayed at Holiday Farms Resort.  There are a lot vacation rentals there, and they are manged by two separate companies.  This time, we rented from The McKenzie Riverside Cottages http://www.mckenzieriversidecottages.com/   and stayed in the Gentle Rapids suite of the big house next to the office.  This home is used for large groups, and has three different apartments, each with 2 or 3 bedrooms and their own decks right on the river.   There  is a communal living room and kitchen - dining room. We were the only ones in the house this time, so had the big living room to ourselves.  We really liked our rooms, and the winter rate is very reasonable at $158.00 per night.  There is more info about this on my The McKenzie River Valley website. http://ogocaj7.blogspot.com/   It was so quiet!  We ate an early dinner at the restaurant across the street, Cary had trout and I had shrimp fettuccine.  We went to bed early, the sound of the river relaxing and peaceful outside our window.

We went on a drive to Cougar Reservoir.   I am working on a longer story on Cougar and posting it on my The McKenzie River Valley website http://ogocaj7.blogspot.com/ when I get a chance.
