New Blogs: "The Early Oregon Series" by Kathy Matthews

Hi!

Sorry that I haven't been on here much, but it has been a busy week.  Between spending time at the lake and working a bit, I have also been flushing out a new blog series.  In March of 2011, I set up 12 new blogs that will concentrate on the early years of the state of Oregon, focusing on the people and towns that settled the area.  It was a great idea, but very overwhelming at the time.

After nearly 1 1/2 years, though, I have so many more posts to transfer over from Oregon Gifts, especially my Sepia Saturday ones, and that helps a lot.  This is post number 1770, so I have a lot to work with! The Early Oregon Series blogs are not all about old photos, but they all contain area history.  They mainly cover the time period between 1850 and 1950, though there are exceptions to that rule.  I hope that they will be a good resource to others, and this series helps me to organize things for myself.

I am really excited about all of this, and I hope that you will take a look at the home page and click on some of the new blogs when you get a chance.  As soon as each blog has one post, I add it to the list.  Here are the names of the blogs that are ready or almost ready so far, and links to the ones ready to go:

In addition, a nice man named Stanley Buck found my post about the Gunter/Panther Creek School and has been emailing me about growing up in that area.  He has written several stories and this prompted me to post them on my "Communties of Douglas County" blog.  If you have a few minutes, please check out his stories ... they are simply wonderful, and they certainly take us back to another place and time all together.
