Book Blurb Friday #49 : "Haunted San Antonio"

Oregon Gifts of Comfort and Joy ~ Kathy Matthews

"Haunted San Antonio"
by Kathy Matthews

Rachel Hernandez is a full-time river taxi driver/tour guide on the River Walk in San Antonio, Texas.  She had grown up on the boats and knew the river by heart.  Both of her parents had been guides before her.

Rachel was a spirit magnet.  She knows where to look for them, and they like keeping an eye on her.  Rachel's favorite spirit is the young and beautiful actress Lilian Dutcher, who had died a tragic death by falling from the balcony of The Esquire in 1946.  To those who know where to look, Lilian can be easily spotted from the middle window above the ivy in the building next door.

Bad spirits are out there too, such as the evil Hector Director (the man who pushed Lilian, but wasn't blamed).  Hector now resides by the well at the Alamo.

Read and learn about the most haunted places in San Antonio! (150)

Okay, so I made that all up.  But I do see a LOT in that there picture, which really is next door to The Esquire Tavern.  To read my blog post about The Esquire, please CLICK HERE.  For more possible San Antonio sightings, you might want to check out this post too: "Can you spot some faces in these places?".  Also, for pictures of our tour along the River Walk, please take a look at this link:  The River Walk Area of San Antonio, Texas.

Thank you, Lisa, for choosing one of my pictures again this week!  Oh, here is the photo I took at The Alamo at night, of the newly named bad man, Hector Director.  He really is scary looking:

I am participating in Lisa's Book Blurb Friday, from over at Writing in the Buff.   It is fun, and you can play too!  Pretend that the picture on the top of this post is the cover of a book.  On the inside jacket, you have 150 words to entice the reader to buy your book.  Lisa gives us a week to think about next week's entry (she's gracious like that).  Please CLICK HERE on Friday to read what everybody else wrote!

Fascinating, Kathy. I like knowing where the photo was taken.
Does San Antonio really have tour guides who drive river taxis? Sounds great.
I'm both interested in and scared of this book, so I'm torn between buying it and running out of the book store, fast.

Thank you for the photo Kathy - it lit me up immediately and I was interested to see how many good names it inspired.

Sounds like a keeper. You know I love all that "woo-woo" stuff. LOL My daddy always saw faces in things, and I frequently do as well. And the photos with unexplained things in them (even if science can explain it) are just plain cool. Great blurb!

That really is a spooky looking house and does conjure the images of spirits. Well done.

Ha! Maybe you should write a book based on the ghosts. I've learned to love your Oregon through your posts. One day I'll visit -- It's a state I haven't been to, yet I have read so many books set there.

Although I'm a skeptic as far as spirits are concerned, it has never stopped me from reading about them. It sounds as though there are great stories behind these spirits and I know I'd enjoy the book.

I had to see if I could see your spirit in the window. I'm not even good with cloud shapes, so I wasn't holding my breath. But I could see it.

Thanks for this interesting photo, which has generated lots of different stories.

Thanks, everybody, I'm glad that you liked the photo and the blurb. This one could turn into a story if I ever get around to it.
