The Meditating Tree:

The Meditating Tree

We moved behind the fairgrounds in 1968, during the spring vacation of my 5th grade year. Immediately, I was visited by two of my neighbors: Carla and Lisa. They both had red hair, but they were not related. They gave me the low down on who to like at school and who drove them crazy. Carla and I hit if off and hung out a lot. We were best friends, and did a lot of stuff together over the years. Carla is now Carly, and we just reconnected on Facebook this week.

One thing that Carly and I did was climb up and sit in The Meditating Tree. It was located across the street from us, in the parking lot of the fairgrounds, next to the Amazon. I drove by it yesterday when I was leaving Eugene and took a picture of it so that I could send it to Carly. It has probably been 35 years since I've climbed up it, but I am glad to know it is still there.
