My Camera: Sony Steady Shot

Oregon Gifts of Comfort and Joy ~ Kathy Matthews

Sometimes, I just love my camera.  It is a Sony Steady Shot with Full HD, and it takes movies.  It has 8.1 megapixels and a 15x zoom.  It isn't new anymore, but as somebody mentioned a couple of years ago of their own, it is a workhorse.  It isn't super fancy, as cameras go, and it was around $400 four or five years ago.  Now they are probably better and cheaper, but without going to the next level with more bells and whistles I am still very happy with it.

One of my very favorite settings is the "Action Sports Shooting".  I can't seem to go wrong with it.  I use it outdoors and in places with enough light, because the flash doesn't go on.  When we go on drives, I just roll down my window and shoot away.  There is some planning involved to get better pictures using that method, but sometimes I just click to see what will happen.

Last Saturday, we took a drive down Hwy 31; Oregon's Outback.  I see faces wherever I go, AFTER the pictures are developed, thank goodness.  The next three pictures were of rock formations on the side of the road as we were driving by.  I think of them as "the hills are alive, but not with the sound of music."

No faces in this one, but this seems to be a major power route.  I wonder if these come from a dam on the Columbia River?  I'll have to investigate that someday.  Does anybody out there know the answer to that question?

I use Picasa 3 as my free software to develop my digital photos.  It is easy and is even better since Google closed down Picnic and incorporated many of what it offered into Picasa.

That wraps up my hopefully helpful hints for today.  If you want to see some more pictures that I took on Saturday's day trip, please check out this link: "A Drive Along the Oregon Outback: Summer Lake Hot Springs".

Hope you all have a wonderful day,

Kathy M.

Hum, I may have to try that setting. Kind of spooky faces Kathy. Maybe you should be glad you are gone before you notice.
