Sunday Soup and a Johnson "Cyberspace" Family Reunion:

Yesterday, I made another pretty good soup.  I think that my split pea was much better, but this one was an experiment, and it tasted fine.  It was also pretty nutritious, I think, because of all the fresh veggies.

The Jimmy Buffett cup is thrown in there for more blue, because this is also a Blue Monday Post.  I have two of them that are just alike, and at home, you will always find me with a Jimmy Buffett cup around.  I think that we have six total, though they are not all blue.

Good Sunday Soup

Once again, I used my favorite big crock pot.  I do this because it holds a lot, and I don't have to worry about things burning easily.  Or in other words, I do not have to get up so often to stir the soup.  It looks like there is a bunch of cheese in there, but there isn't any.  That might have been a good added touch at the end though.

Ingredients and Instructions:

Into your large pot, add:

1 large can of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup. (I use store brands for many things, but not for creamy soups.)

1 box of Roasted Tomato Soup.  (Have you used those box soups yet?  They are ready to go, you don't have to add milk or water and are pretty darn good.)

Mix these two soups together with a wire whisk until they are well blended.  Then add these:

3 cups of fresh, sliced mushrooms

1 large onion of your favorite type, chopped

1 cube of butter

1 can of corn

2 handfuls of cherry tomatoes

Steam the following on the stove or in the microwave before adding to the stuff above.  Carrots take forever to cook, so by steaming them first, your soup will be done faster.

1 small bag of baby carrots

3 cups of fresh mixed raw veggies that come in those little assorted bags:  broccoli, snap peas, and cauliflower

Pepper, salt and garlic powder.

Cook for about 3 hours, or until those silly carrots are soft.

Enjoy!  I am adding this to Smiling Sally's Blue Monday Party.  Please click here for lots of blue things today CLICK HERE.

Johnson "Cyberspace" Family Reunion

I just wanted to let you know that I am so happy!  During the past few months that I have been posting my old pictures for Sepia Saturday, I was hope to reconnect with long-lost cousins and other relatives.  Right away, I was contacted by Bill Hedrick, and we have been corresponding and sharing information about the Hedrick family.

The missing link for me, though, has been my Arkansas relatives.  Yesterday was so exciting because I had four cousins contact me from that side of the family:  Linda, Carolyn, Suzanne and Barbara.  Now I am Facebook friends with the first three so far, and we spent last night sharing our Johnson family photos.  It is so wonderful!  I hope that I will be meeting more of them soon.  They have what I have been missing ... the pictures, stories and history.

Today, I am very grateful for my blog and for FB, and how they have helped to bring my distant relatives closer.  Yay for us!

If you miss a day, you miss a lot!  Don't miss out on the news ... Please click here to go to my home page and see what is happening in Mayberry today.

Odd how thin all the wax figures are. Thanks for sharing your blues.

Happy Blue Monday, Kathy.

The only time we got soup when I was growing up was when we were sick so I pretty much have that thought attached to it.
You may convince me yet that I don't have to have a fever to enjoy a bowl. That really looks good.

That soup looks really good and easy. Two of my requirements. That's great that more family is being found. Good luck with it.

What an easy soup! Jazzing up storebought soups with fresh veggies is a good idea.

This soup sounds good, I will have to try it some time! Thanks for stopping by! I've been behind on my blog reading, but I always enjoy what you have to say.

Sally, thanks for stopping by and holding Blue Monday! I bet you wrote about soup in somebody elses comments, but I love how you visit each of us each week.

Patti, uh, oh ... that's like not wanting to eat hamburgers after you threw one up, lol. The good thing about soup is that you can freeze or can them after you make a big batch.

Jeanie, thanks so much for visiting! I appreciate your comment very much.

Susan, thank you! Where do they live, I wonder?

Hi Rose, it is easy, that's for sure. I hope you like it, if you try it.

Hi Donnie, thanks so much for sharing in my happiness.

Lesa, hi! I do that a lot, it just seems better than opening a can of soup.

Lynn, I've been missing you, but I know how busy you are. Thanks for coming over to see me.
