Master Bath Remix: Before and After

I woke up yesterday morning and decided that this was the day to remix our master bathroom.  It really needs to be painted, and I wouldn't mind updating the light fixtures, but this was about reorganizing and making it prettier by using what I had.

My inspiration piece was this quilt that my Grandma J. made and gave me when I was 15.  I used it on my bed for years, and it has been through the washer and dryer.  It is getting a bit tattered and worn, but I still love it.  There are all the states and the state flowers on it, hand "embroidery" painted.  It is funny, because this was one quilt that Grandma was never too thrilled about making when she was done with it.  I think it is awesome!

These before pictures are like the fat girls in bikini's; frowning and with no make-up on.  In other words, pretty awful.

The dresser has been a mess for months.  The pictures were half done for just as long.

To tell you the truth, the dirty clothes don't always overflow as shown here ... but they were yesterday morning.

It is warm and inviting now.  The colors are bright and cheery.

Those little plaster figures were Cary's Grandma's, and they remind us of her.  I also have lots of old family pictures of my family hanging on the walls.

This is the little alcove where the toilet is:

I'll keep working on the bathroom over time.  I am happy with the results of my couple hours of effort though.  I can't wait to see what you guys have been working on!

Nice job! So cheerful! I love seeing the "before and after" shots. There was a show I saw last year where the designer went into houses and redecorated using only what the people already owned. She went through their attic, basement, closets. LOL By the the time she was done, though, it looked like a brand new place. I wish I was creative in that way.

Great job, Kathy, and you're so lucky: your bathroom is HUGE! I can't believe you can even fit a dresser in there. I have one bathroom in my house and it's tiny! You are one lucky girl. ;)
Best,
Gloria

Smashing job well done. I do love the quilt there though when you first mentioned it I was skeptical. It just fits and really sets the place off.

Lisa, thank you. Your home is very beautiful! I loved that show too, and think that would be where I could help others. It is easy and cheap and makes such a difference.

Gloria, you are right, it is big! The funny thing is that it only has one plug in. I think that there should be one behind the dresser. The dresser was my Uncle John's and it does have a very pretty tri-fold mirror, but I felt that if it was on there now, we would feel like we were in a fun house.

I don't mind a small bathroom, as long as it has a tub. Our other one is small, but the tub is big, so that works. Hey, you are right, I am lucky, and thanks for pointing that out to me. I haven't been feeling well and haven't been focusing on that.

Patti, thank you! I have a quilt over our bed, and one in the office too. I just enjoy them, and they were all made by somebody that I know.

Grammy, thank you! Grandma would love hearing that.

Hi Kathy! Thanks so much for stopping by. It is coming to the time where we really need to paint around here, but there is always room for improvement. The pictures above the dresser haven't always been that bad, I moved a big one out of there several months ago and then stopped. I do enjoy changing things around every once in a while. I'm thinking of working on the living room next.
