Watery Wednesday:

In the west hills of Bend, there are some pretty fancy neighborhoods.  Some are gated, and some are not.  One is gated with a very beautiful park that sports a great swimming pool.  You needed a key to get inside.  The pool is gated too.

The houses are very, very nice, though many of the lots looked a bit small to me.  But that is just me.  This is a whole different type of experience than living in rural La Pine, wouldn't you agree?

Now, to get to the Watery Wednesday part!  While I was there, I also took pictures of the pool.  Not very many people were there that day.

There were nice bathrooms where you could change into your swimsuit.  There were picnic tables (I guess there is not a "no food allowed" rule at this pool).  They must trust you to use good judgment or something.

The pool itself was a generous size.

Some folks were racing.

I spotted a bit of synchronized swimming.

That pool and neighborhood came with a view of the mountains too.  What a nice place to be on an August day.  So, that is that!  I hope that you are having a wonderful end of the summer and are getting in your share of swimming.

I love a pool like that--that you can swim real laps in. And I love the mountain view. BTW, noticed your McMenamin's note at the top--I worked for them for 6 1/2 years (all in the Portland area, but 3 pubs)--still love the company and am fact I wrote a mystery in June around a female microbrewery owner who has no small amount of McMenamin's worship.

I agree with you Kathy, we who live in the country side/rural area a land like this is not fun at all. But I loveeee the house. Where are the people in this community? ^_^ Happy Wednesday!

Seems like a great place to be a kid - having a pool you can share with your neighbors. Not nearly as crowded as our local pool.

The 2012 Army All-American Day Event

Photo Source: Nike "The Opening Brochure" Pages 2 and 3
During the week of July 5-9, 2011, Cary and I were privileged to attend "The Opening", watching quarterback grandson Tyler Matthews (#43 the first day, and #15 on game days) play with 150 of the best high school football players in the United States. The event was held at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. I hope that you enjoy the pictures ... some are better photos than others, but I tried to capture as many kids as I could.

There are approximately 500 photos in these slide shows. They are of the players, the fans, our family and everybody/everything that caught my eye. They are in chronological order. No names are on the pictures, even if I do know who people were.

As time permits, I will also be writing blog posts about my experience as a spectator. Since I still have a lot to learn about football and this is not a sports blog, I'll write some human interest stories as seen through my eyes. That said, Tyler Matthews, YOU ROCK!!!!
