Book Blurb Friday #43 : "Riverbend"

Oregon Gifts of Comfort and Joy ~ Kathy Matthews

 "Riverbend"
 by Kathy Matthews

Riverbend City Councilor, Bonnie Marshall-Cooper, looked at the new paint job with appreciation.  It had been a long and difficult fight to help the owners of Sidelines get permission to paint over the 100-year-old original brickwork.

The main opposition had come from that crotchety old bitty, Councilor Frances Worthington.  Mrs. Worthington feared that other business-owners would follow suit, and soon the historic downtown area would resemble a coastal resort community rather than a high-mountain skiing town.  She was not used to losing fights.

Bonnie, basking in victory, turned to get back into her car.  She was startled to feel the gun in her side and the gruff voice in her ear. "You are coming with me, bitch.  We are making sure that you won't make any more of your fancy changes around this town!"

In Riverbend, you never cross a Worthington.  Bonnie’s real troubles had just begun. (147)

Thanks, Lisa, for choosing one of my favorite recent pictures for this week's Book Blurb Friday!  Here is the link to the post about Sidelines Sports Bar and Grill:  "just click here".

I am participating in Lisa's Book Blurb Friday, from over at Writing in the Buff.   It is fun, and you can play too!  Pretend that the picture on the top of this post is the cover of a book.  On the inside jacket, you have 150 words to entice the reader to buy your book.  Lisa gives us a week to think about next week's entry (she's gracious like that).  Please CLICK HERE  to read what everybody else wrote!

Ooh, I didn't see that coming, Kathy. "Never cross a Worthington"...or else! Good stuff. I'd sure buy the book.

You lulled me into complacency, then took me by surprise. The only disappointment with this blurb is that it doesn't tell the rest of the story. You know I'd be buying it.

wishing you a wonderful holiday.

Why, that nasty Frances Worthington! Bonnie's in trouble and of course, that's just the way we readers like it. It'd be fun to read about how she gets herself out of trouble and puts old Frances in jail!
