A - Z Challenge: "A" is for Apple

During the month of April, I am participating in the Blogging From A-Z April 2012 Challenge, where we post nearly everyday.  I have decided to make flashcards for the letter of the day out of my photos, and then use the picture as a writing prompt for the beginning of a short story using my thesaurus.

Thank you for your visit, and please come back again tomorrow!  I'll be by to visit those who leave me comments, and also visit as many others as I can.  If you like what you see, please feel free to become my newest follower.  ~ Kathy M.

Oregon Gifts of Comfort and Joy ~ Kathy Matthews

"One Bad Apple"
by Kathy Matthews

For years, Amy Anderson sold apples from her orchard on Saturdays in Ashland's open air market at Lithia Park.  She made decent money and looked forward to the fellowship of the customers and other vendors.

One beautiful Saturday in August, Amy was surprised to find that the argumentative and asinine Angela Armstrong had set up an apple booth adjacent to her own.  Angela was the stinky armpit of the open air market and was abhorred by most.  Not only that, Angela was bad-mouthing Amy, announcing that awful pesticides were always used on Amy's apples.  Those flat out lies that set Amy's spirit aflame!

Amy was trying to think of an appropriate way to confront Angela and abolish the absurd accusations.  Trying not to be abusive herself, Amy accidentally found out some addiction and additional information on Angela.  She wondered if there would be an advantage to announcing a few simple things herself?

What Amy realizes is that no matter how she handles the aggravating circumstances, one bad apple really can spoil the whole bunch.  Just like The Osmonds said.

The A to Z is a lot of work. Good for you, Kathy! I just couldn't manage it this year. Love your story, and the apple photo is awesome. Love it.

Hmm... good question. Outing addictions and airing dirty laundry because of apples sound little extreme. :-/

Hello! Fellow Oregonian here! Sixth-generation Northern Oregonian, to be precise. ;)

Very clever story. I pronounce it amazing, and I must admit I was astonished by your absolutely brilliant use of alliteration using the letter 'A.'

Love the Oregon theme! I'm from just Vancouver, WA in the PNW - but spent a year in OR and most of my friends are from OR. :)
