Bend Spring Festival 2012 at Northwest Crossing:

Yesterday, Cary and I drove into Bend to attend the Bend Spring Festival and to meet with Mike from Alta Rock and Aurora from Davenport Power.  They had a booth there, and we wanted to say hello, and get something to eat.

Saturday was gorgeous and very springlike.  It was 57*, sunny and clear; something that we haven't seen for a while around here.  It was a bit breezy though, and cold in the shade.  The weather was perfect for taking pictures.  Too bad that I wasn't into doing much of that yesterday, but the ones that I took did turn out nice.  I cropped them but barely had to adjust the color and light.

Approximately four blocks in the Northwest Crossing neighborhood were blocked off and filled with music, eateries, craft booths, business booths and a children's area.

Here is a tour of the festival:

There were two music stages.  This one is at the entrance, when you first walk in.  The other one is on Kid's Street.

The bagpipe guys sounded great:

There was quite a selection of business and organization booths, including Chimps, Inc. ...

... and Newberry EGS, which includes Davenport Power and Alta Rock.  These companies are drilling for geothermal water to convert into electricity on the backside of Paulina Peak near La Pine.

It was so much fun to visit with Mike and Aurora.

Cary still has his cast on for several more weeks as a result of his elbow surgery.

Isn't she a doll?  She is so full of bubbly niceness too.

This would make a great profile picture, Aurora!

There were stilt animals and people all over the place.  It was very crowded with little kids running around.  I don't know how they stay upright, but they were fun to have there:

These two were having quite a conversation with the lady on the ground:

I wonder what they were discussing.

Here is one of the many arts and craft booths that were there:

There was a great variety to choose from in the food court:

Cary ordered a pulled pork burrito from the vendor below.  I wasn't hungry, but I did have a bite of his burrito, and it was delicious.  It cost $8.00:

Beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages were also available:

The Kid's Area was great.  There were things to make, pony rides, a petting zoo, bouncy houses and a rock climbing wall:

If I do say so myself, this one is a heck of a picture:

So, there you are.  It is open today too, if you live locally and want to check it out.  It is free to get in, and was a lot of fun.  Yesterday the festival was super crowded when we were there, but maybe it won't be as busy today.  The porta-potties were hard to find, but they are down the alley from those yellow Deschutes Brewery umbrellas.

Oh, that does look like fun! Geothermal in the area sounds like a good possibility.

Great post, Kathy. This looked like a lot of fun. But I can't believe eight bucks for a pulled pork burrito!!! Man, things are so expensive now-a-days, it's ridiculous!
Best,
Gloria
P.S. Where's my pic of the burrito?????? >:|
(only kidding! LOL!)

That does look like fun though the food prices would make me choke.
Always wanted to try stilts, maybe because I am vertically challenged.

Hi Everybody ... we just expect those prices at festivals ... are they cheaper other places? It was huge and fresh, but I guess it that is a lot of mone.

TB - I think those are shops. The Old Mill is a big newer shopping center with restaurants and and a movie theater. On the side where I was standing is the amphitheater.
