Wednesday Update with Astoria Photos:

Oregon Gifts of Comfort and Joy ~ Kathy Matthews

Hello Friends,

Just wanted to check in and say hi.  If you are visiting from A to Z, my "D" post is below this one.  Thank you to all of my new followers!  My widget hasn't moved, even though five or six of you have joined up over the past couple of days.

We have been busy around here.  Cary had elbow surgery yesterday, and we are trying to get that all figured out.  He is doing fine and has kept his sense of humor.  Needing to wear pump stockings around his legs and a pump around his neck for blood clot prevention, Cary said, "I look like that guy with the clock!" (meaning Flava Flave).

We are so relieved that our family in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area is safe from yesterday's tornadoes, and that most of the folks in the wake of the storm were not seriously injured.  Praying for you guys!

Our trip to Astoria was a lot of fun, and I have a tons of pictures to still post about it.  The one above turned out rather special.  Of course, it was on accident, taken out the window as I drove by so I'll never figure out how to do it again.

Here are some pictures of some of the neat houses and buildings in Astoria.  Astoria is the oldest city west of the Mississippi, and is where the explorers and fur traders began their trading post.  My friend Virginia says that it reminds her of a tiny San Francisco.  The movies Kindergarten Cop and Goonies, (along with several others)  were filmed in Astoria.

On our way home, we stopped by our friend Nikki's place of employment and ended up staying and singing karaoke with Kari and Kristin (my girls).  It was a blast!

Well, I'd better get going.  We have a bunch of paperwork to get done at work this morning and I need to go to the store.  Time to get back to normal around here.  I'll be posting the rest of the Astoria pictures a little at a time.

Have a wonderful day!

I came here from A-Z but got caught up in this post. Those are some of the most interesting houses I've ever seen. I LOVE the purple one. I wish I could live there.

I only went thru Astoria once on the way to Seaside and never got back to see it or get up to that Astoria Tower. I wanted to take the bridge too. Ah well.
