Just-A-Note: Some Winnie-the-Pooh and More

    Artist:  Nita Leger Casey

This is installment seven of Oregon Gifts of Comfort and Joy's weekly art feature.  I have been scanning greeting cards, adding a frame and then linking them up to the artists when possible.  Hope that they bring you a bit of joy today!

A couple of days ago, I was going through old letters that one of my high school BFF's, Dana, sent to me in the mid-seventies.  The first two were cards were from Dana:

"G.D. Lesle, R.A., 1887 ... Click here!"

"Wikipedia Article on John Constable"

Dana and I had lost touch with each other for years prior to reconnecting through Facebook.  I had a book that her grandmother had given her when she was small, a 1957 copy of Winnie-the-Pooh.  I am mailing it back to her tomorrow, but couldn't resist scanning the delightful color illustrations to show you guys.  I'm also sending her back her letters (I am making copies of them for me.)  That way, she can read about what she was thinking and doing nearly 40 years ago.

And here is Dana's graduation photo. She still is just as beautiful now as she was back then:

I am linking this post to Pamela Kuhn's "A Sheltering Tree" weekly blog hop, Share the Shelter.  When you are all through here at Oregon Gifts, please hop on over there to see some lovely and inspirational posts.

You are a truly thoughtful friend to send Dana the book and her notes and letters sent to you so many years ago. Of course, keeping a copy of the letters for you. The Pooh photos are fabulous.

I know Dana will enjoy receiving her book and copies of her letters in the mail. And I just love the Winnie the Pooh illustrations. "Classic" Pooh.

Hi Kathy, I think that it is wonderful that you have discovered and old ( I mean dear) friend. How delightful it must be to compare old memories and find out what roads you have both traveled through life.

In regard to the question you left on my blog:
To tell you the truth I really don't know . . . I think they are suppose to help from having your seams unravel . . . that's a good question . . . maybe some of my readers will have a better answer. I use them because my Mom did, LOL.
Have you ever heard the story of the young woman that was cooking a ham. Before she put it in the pan she cut the end off. Her new husband asked her why she did that, and she said because my Mom always did it that way. So, then she asked her Mom why she did it that way. Her Mom's answer was, because your Grandma always did it that way. Then the Mom asked the Grandma, "Why do you always cut the end of the ham off before you cook it?" The Grandma replied, "because my pan is too short." So, that my story, too . . . LOL.

Kathy, you go out there and have yourself a delightful day,
Your blogging sister, Connie :)

What a marvelous gift that will be! Old letters and books are treasure troves. My husband and I collect both and scour thrift and antique stores for them :)

I LOVE classic Pooh. I don't like the Disney-fied version, but the old, classic, original Pooh stories and illustrations are gorgeous.

Thanks for sharing!

How wonderful that you've reconnected with an old friend. I hooked up with one of my old friends through Facebook, too. Honestly I think serendipity brought us back together again. We were the best of friends all through school, but some heavy duty chemo treatments she had a few years ago really messed with her memory. So, I'm helping her fill in the blanks, and we're having a grand time doing it.
