Art: "She's an American Girl" Collage

I am so glad that yesterday is over!  That 9-11 feeling really weighed heavily on me all day long.

So, I am off to cheerier subjects.  As I was trying to get something positive done yesterday, I decided to make a collage with things that I had laying around the house.  This is how it turned out (the letters are not glued down yet, but I just couldn't wait to show you!):

Do you get it?  As I kept going, I began thinking about Trisha Yearwood's "She's an American Girl".  The wine corks and the God Bless heart got me started down that path.  I always overdo and clutter things up, but I think that is okay when doing a collage.  Art is like writing for me ... I'm never quite sure where I will end up!  Maybe that is just part of the creative process.

She's an American Girl Lyrics:

Phone rings baby cries TV diet guru lies
Good morning honey
Go to work make up try to keep the balance up
Between love and money

[Chorus:]
She used to tie her hair up in ribbons and bows
Sign her letters with X's and O's
Got a picture of her mama in heels and pearls
She's gonna make it in her daddy's world
She's an American girl
An American girl

Slow dance second chance mama needs romance
And an live-in maid
Fix the sink mow the yard really isn't all that hard
If you get paid

[Chorus]

Well she's got her God and she's got good wine
Aretha Franklin and Patsy Cline

[Chorus]

She's an American girl

Anyway, it made me happy to be constructive at something other than doing a bit of cleaning up around the house.

The other good thing that happened yesterday was that Oregon and Tennessee had a great football game, and it was really fun to watch.  Of course, I am even happier that the Ducks won.  Oh, and speaking of football, our grandson Tyler's team won again on Friday night and this time the score was 50 to 19.  When the first string left, it was 50 to 12.  That kid is a remarkable quarterback, and he has awesome back-up.  Yay!

You are too cool.

I love Trisha Yearwood--if she sang the encyclopedia I'd listen. :)

Hey, Lisa, thank you! I love her too.

I might do one on "She's in love with the boy" someday ... that is a fun one too.
