Shadow Shot Sunday #139 - Shadows, Reflections and Soft Lighting

Hi Everybody!

Before I get started on explaining the photos on here, I want to let you know that Hey Harriet, the blog that sponsors Shadow Shot Sunday, is located in Brisbane, Queensland Australia.  There is a great article that Tracy (aka: Harriet) wrote today about the flooding, the spirit of the people, and links to how you can help.  We are so happy that you are okay, Tracy, and are still able to do your linky party this week in spite of everything.  Thank you.

Okay, now on to the photos.  Last night, I was sitting here in the dark in the computer room, (which is a bonus room off of the living room), checking my blog.  In the living room, the table in front of the window looked like this:

I looked up on the wall behind the computer, where there are some pictures of our grandkids, and saw this reflection in the glass:

I wondered if I could get a picture that would turn out from the reflection.  After a bit of practice, I got it!  I was stoked.  I used the Aperture setting, with no flash, and zoomed in even though I was only 3 feet from the school picture.  See, it is opposite from the top photo, the plant is on the other side of the lamp.

I took these two photos in December, of two different tablescapes.

Thank you for joining me today, and please go on over to Hey Harriet to see other cool shadowy photos, and read a first hand account about the flooding and the heart of folks worldwide.

one of the things I most enjoy about my SSS tours is the accounting people give of how they got their shadow shots. yours is endearing and beautiful, as your photos. Is that a potted rose on the table???
your home is lovely and inviting. thanks for the peek. happy SSS.

Miss Becky,
Thank you so much for the kind things you wrote! The flowers are artificial, but you reminded me that I should spruce up some of these photo shoots with some fresh cut ones.

Dear Serendipity,
Thanks! I got several of those little hearts for .69 at the outlet store and put them in my plants. Somebody told me that if you name your plants that they will grow better. All I know is that it really helps when I remember to water them!

Hi Sylvia,
Thank you so much! I am happy to know that you enjoyed it, and that the roses added an extra touch.

Hi Catherine,
Thank you for saying so! I used to only get 1 good one out of 100, but the odds are slowly turning in my favor. :>)

I appreciate all your comments!

I love the first photo and then the second photo was even more impressive. That's really neat how you did that! And I'm so impressed with your tablescapes. Dinner parties at your house must be quite an event!

Thanks for your kind words about my waffling blog post. And it's been a real joy to be able to do the linky party today and visit my blog buddies. Have a lovely week ahead Kathy :)

Tracy, thank you for everything you said. I know, #1 is a "better" photo, but #2 took my brainpower! I am so glad that you are okay. I can only imagine the clean up that you all have to work on. God bless!
