Cultus Lake, Oregon:

In July, 2011, my best friend husband and I took a drive and checked out several high lake campgrounds along the Cascade Lakes Highway. That highway links you up to Bend at one end, and the Highway 58 Cutoff Road near Crescent at the other.  You can also access Cascade Lakes Highway at La Pine and near Sunriver.

Cultus Lake is one of the lakes that we went to.  Cultus Lake is 210' deep, and was formed by a glacier. The photo below shows Cultus Mountain, which divides Cultus Lake from Little Cultus Lake.  I took pictures of Little Cultus also, but haven't posted them yet.

Cultus Lake is a great spot for fishing, swimming, water skiing, jet skiing and camping. It even offers a very nice resort complete with cabins and a private marina.  Located off of the Cascade Lakes Highway, 8 miles north of Crane Prairie Reservoir, Cultus is a nice place for the kids.  At the main day use area, the water is rather warm, and stays shallow for a long ways out.  The campground has 55 sites, and is operated by Hoodoo.  To learn more about the "public" side of this lake, please check out these links after you are done here at Oregon Gifts.

This is the Day Use Area.  You'll need a forest pass to park here and to use the public boat ramp, just so you know.

I like looking through the trees to the lake!

FEEL THE WATERS’ HEALING

If you’re stressed and weary
Try a thing or two:
Go down to the river,
Take a friend with you;
Take your shoes and socks off,
Plunge in twenty toes—
Feel the waters’ healing
As the river flows!
