Pink Saturday: Vintage Piggy Platter and Food Grinder

This little piggy platter was my Grandma Johnson's.  When we had our frequent family dinners, she would serve us ham from it.  Yum! Somewhere nearby, there would be a big bowl of mashed potatoes and another big bowl of her famous green beans.  I miss my Grandma and her food, very much.

Grandma J. was very good about labeling her stuff with fingernail polish.  I do believe that it lasts longer than permanent markers do.  She always put a dot of red polish on her silverware that stayed in her camper, so that she could easily identify it from everybody elses.  She was really clever; always thinking about how to make things better.

My boy's name is on the back of this platter because when they were going through Grandma and Grandpa's things, my sister Julie decided that Nigel should have it.  Thanks, Aunt Julie, you are so nice!  I put his name on it so that everybody will know that it is his, should I not be able to pass that information on myself for some horrible reason.

I suspect that some lady made the piggy platter in a ceramics class. I wonder if she was a friend of Grandmas? On the back, it says this:

The other thing that I want to show you today is this pink hand food grinder that belonged to my Grandma T.:

On the bottom, it says that it was made by Federal Housewares, Chicago, 45, Illinois, 14, Nibot Corporation:

I wonder if Grandma T. used it to make baby food for my Mom and Aunties?  I miss Grandma T. so much also.  She made us the best fruit salad and canned peaches, and had the prettiest yard in the world.
