In honor of Veteran's Day and in honor of my father-in-law, the late Troy Matthews, I have scanned the following pictures to share from his time in Guam during World War II in the Navy Sea Bees. These were taken in 1945. I sure do miss that man.

I love this tribute to your father in law. We have pictures of the same vintage from my Dad. He was in the Phillipines during WWII. We'll be putting our flag out tomorrow!

Very touching but also interesting. I enjoyed but it also made me kind of sad that we have so many serving our country today and I'm not sure I understand it all. One thing I know though is that I support each and every one of our Veterans, past, current and future!

How wonderful to have the old photos! And look how young your father-in-law was in that first picture! Oh my...such a young boy! I'm so glad he was one of the ones that came back home. Thanks for sharing, Kathy!

Very interesting pictures, beginning with the picture of your handsome FIL, and all the pictures of Guam itself. I find this especially interesting because our beloved son-in-law was born in Guam, and we have heard from his family stories bits and pieces of life in occupied ( by the Japanese )Guam. We of course are very grateful for the sacrifice our military made to liberate and protect Guam because we benefited directly by the wonderful son-in-law we have been given, and the amazing 4 grandchildren he and our daughter have given us.Thank-you for this post.
