Vintage Yellow Quilt With Chickens Tablescape:

First, here is the tablescape without the chickens.  Shown here, it is a place where you can actually sit down and eat:

It has been a while since I have put together a full tablescape.  This week I am going to post this one on four different meme's so that as many folks as possible can see it.  I hope that you won't get tired of looking at this table setting, but I am so thrilled with it!  I hope that you enjoy it is as much as I do.  It isn't fancy, but I think that what I really love is how the setting matches the other colors in the room.  Plus the fact that it is filled with family memories.

The rest is shown with the chickens.  It is set up as a more of photo session:

Most of the chickens that I have are pretty new, as in not antiques.

The prayer book is called "Folded Hands" and the copyright is 1878.  My Mom got it from a woman named Aldula J. Robertson who lived near her, and she gave it to me around 15 years ago.

I never get tired of taking pictures of this little bowl of cherries.

Emily is sitting on a stack of old dictionaries on my Grandma T.'s bench.  Grandma T. hand made the needlepoint cushion.  Emily is wearing a hand crocheted bib some homemade slippers.

I bought this doll at Vintage Antiques when I did the photo shoot there last month.  I am thinking about using her as a pattern to make some that look similar.  She is so cute!  She's not very old though, somebody named Kellie made her in 1995.

The little enameled baking dish is from my Grandma J.  I made these hearts last week.  Please see this post for a chance to win one:

The water goblets are from Bi Mart, and the yellow pitcher with the plant in it came from St. Vincent's in La Pine.
I think it cost me $3.00 or so.

This everyday china was given to me by my step mom Jill and my Dad, for Christmas in 1984.  My Mom found some extra pieces a few years ago for me.  The stainless silverware is was from when I was married in 1978.  It is Onieda's pattern "Louisiana".

The wooden candle holders were from my great-uncle John.
He got them in El Salvador during the 1940's.

Isn't this bowl pretty?  Cary's grandma
gave it to me several years ago as a thank you.

Some more ...

This was my inspiration piece.
It was a thrift store find that truly called out to me.  I didn't really even have the money for it, but it I couldn't bear to leave without it!

I made these two pillows from a quilt that my Grandma J. made and gave to my Mom and Dad.  They used it as their everyday quilt and after it got worn out, Mom gave it to me.  I made two pillows for most of the folks in my family for Christmas that year.

I also made everybody, including the nieces, nephews and stepkids star ornaments out of that same quilt.  I signed each person's name  and the year on the back of the ornament (not shown):

This is my helper, Dana.  She watched carefully during this whole photo shoot process.  Dana is 1/2 Sheepdog and 1/2 Brussels terrier.  That is quite a combination and she looks a bit goofy, but she sure is smart and protective.  Dana is resting on the braided rug that my Nanny gave me around 10 years ago:

As I mentioned above, I am entering this post into Marty's  Table Top Tuesday;  Lady Katherine's Tea Party Tuesday,  and when Thursday gets here I'll also enter it into Susan's Tablescape Thursday.  Thank you, ladies for holding these parties each and every week so that we can show off our pretty stuff!

Everything about this tablescape just made me happy ! The dishes are very pretty and their colors lend themselves to any color theme. The roosters, ahh, I love chickens and roosters..so they go with anything! I very much like the way you used and re-used the old quilt and I just might steal that idea for gifts using an old quilt from my grandmother.

The doggy Dana is so cute and unlike any dog I have ever seen before. You could do a few posts on her alone and they would be very interesting.

Beautiful tablescape, Kathy -- I especially love your rooster collection! And may I say that I love your furniture: your chairs are so, so pretty, and I especially love the bench you have at the table... Wonderful and so classic and lovely!
Best,
Gloria

Incredible!!! The tablescape is so comfy, and very welcoming and homey. I love it. Why, right down to the napkin rings. Every bit of it is just simply awesome. Oh and that old book...I could fondle it as I love the smell and feel of old books. I'm always on the look-out for them when I go to book sales. I think my oldest publication date on a book of mine is 1893 [not sure]. What a collector's item you have in it.
