Please enjoy the music!

Please enjoy the music while your party is reached.  That bossy lady on the cell phone voice mail is always saying that to me.  Like my party is at work for some huge conglomerate or something, instead of driving around in their car trying not to get a ticket for talking on their cell phone.  I prefer counting the rings to see if anybody is really going to answer their phone instead of enjoying the music and being held in suspense.  But. that is just me. I frequently try to guess outcomes.

Still, for your listening pleasure over the next few days, or until I get tired of it, I have chosen a play list featuring Al Stewart and Carole King.  I hope you like it.  I thought that I was pretty clever thinking up Al Stewart and remembering his last name.  He hasn't been on the charts for quite some time.  That is probably why you had to listen to Rod Stewart this week; it took me that long to figure it out.  Even though they both have the same last names.  That is just how my mind works.  Kind of slow. With random connectivity.  As if you haven't noticed.

Have a wonderful weekend!

P.S. -  Remember in May when I did the post below?  This week I saw a  t.v. commercial with a baby in an illegal walker driving through traffic with no helmet, featuring the song "Brand New Key".  (Click here to see the commercial.)  Well, let's just see how long it takes for "Time Passages" to show up on a commercial now!  I love being a trendsetter.

Melanie: I've Got a Brand New Pair of Roller Skates

Do you remember that 70's song, Brand New Key/I've Got a Brand New Pair of Roller Skates, by Melanie?  I've been thinking about it lately, and found this cute video on You Tube that a high school girl made for her school project way back when.  It is pretty funny.  And the boy is hot.  And the girl skates as about as well as I did.

Check out this awesome video:

Here is a photo that Grandma Jody took of my nephew Ethan 20 years ago in his walker.  He looks so much like that baby on the commercial to me:

Oh, Kathy!! What great singers you chose! Gosh, I haven't thought of...or heard any Al Stewart music in AGES!! Not even on the "Oldies" stations!! And of course, Carol King is one of my absolute favorites! Thank you very much! I will listen as long as you keep these songs!! I'll listen as "background" music, like I do with my own Play List, because I can't really read or write while listening!! AND, I saw that hilarious baby stroller commercial and thought of YOU! AND, I added that song to one of my Play Lists not too long ago!! Have a beautiful day!! Sorry I haven't been by in awhile!

Hi Becky,

Wow! I just finished this up! Thanks so much for all of your comments, you have made my day. I have missed you. I'm going to print off your photo today, so it will be on its way soon.

That walker in that commercial ... all my kids used walkers but nowadays they use bouncers instead. Still, that commercial makes me cringe, safety wise.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Terrific singers. I've been a Rod Stewart fan since Maggie May, and James Taylor (Sweet Baby James...came out about the same time as CK's Tapestry, only one of THE best albums in history) back in the...gulp!...early '70s. And Al Stewart -- haven't thought of him in ages.

You know, I try to get into the music my 16-year-old listens to, and I do let her play her music when we're in the car together, but most of it I just tolerate. The rap makes me nuts, so she avoids that when she's with me. There are a few good ones (I confess to loving Adam Lambert) and there is a new one out that cracks me up, something about "you think you're cooler than me" and I adore it. Don't know why. Just catchy, I guess. But you know, I even love the real oldies...Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Mel Torme...those guys had real class!

OH!! And Jason Mraz. I love him, too!! :D His song "I'm Yours" is my cell phone ring tone.

Hi Lisa,

I don't know too much about today's music. I mainly listen to Country by default, or some newer oldies.

That is so cool that you like Frank Sinatra and those guys. It has been a long time since I have actually listened to them. Cary's Mom and Aunt were saying recently that you could really understand the words in the old days. :>)

I think I am going to check out Andy Williams soon.

I can just imagine you driving around with your daughter, listening to the radio. When my kids were little we listened to Jimmmy Buffett tapes a lot. Kari could remember words to any songs and we would follow her lead. I remember when she was really good on the 80's tunes.
