Cary and I spent several hours in Bend today, running errands and hanging out. It was so pretty, sunny and warm, but not too hot. First we went to DMV, then to the car wash, then to lunch at the Hong Kong. After that we visited this neat little riverfront park, where we suspect Beer Church might be held on Sundays.

People float down the river until they get out on the other side of this little railroad trestle bridge, which is located behind the Les Schwab Amphitheater. After they exit the river, they carry their floating devices to this little park, and continue on down the Deschutes River until they reach Drake Park. It takes around 45 minutes to float from Clyde McKay River Park to Drake Park in downtown Bend.

There is a nice swimming area below the falls.
There is also a great lawn for picnicking and suntanning.
We think that it would be fun to float
the river ourselves someday soon.

This plaque tells the story of the old railroad trestle and railroad that was operating in the Old Mill District.
We really enjoyed ourselves in Bend today. Then we got home and I was checking Facebook and learned that one of my friends was in a car accident this morning. I called around and was told that she is doing well and would be released from the hospital tomorrow. Our prayers are with you, D.
Right after I learned that, the ambulance came wailing down the road and stopped at our neighbor's home in the next door trailer park. The woman living there had died. Our prayers are also with her husband, J.
What a deal.
