Waltzing With Bears:

Waltzing With Bears is one of my favorite kids' folk songs.  Originally written by Dr. Seuss,  and added on to by different folk singers over the years, it is a lot of fun.  I used to listen to KLCC on  Saturday mornings in Eugene as we cleaned the house.  The had a show full of folks songs, and I looked forward to when Waltzing With Bears would be played.

When I was looking for a graphic for this post, I ran into a website by a man named Stuart Burgess, and have provided the link to it under his painting.

Please make sure to check out the 1985 music video link too, it is pretty cute.

Waltzing With Bears

I went upstairs in the middle of the night,
I tip-toed inside and turned on the light.
But to my dismay, he was nowhere in sight.
My Uncle Walter goes dancing at night.

(Chorus) He goes wa-wa-wa-wa, waltzing with bears.
Raggy bears, shaggy bears, baggy bears too.
There's nothing on earth Uncle Walter won't do.
So he can go waltzing, wa-wa-wa waltzing,
So he can go waltzing, waltzing with bears.

I gave Uncle Walter a new coat to wear,
When he came home it was covered with hair.
And lately I've noticed there're several new tears.
I fear Uncle Walter goes waltzing with bears.

We told Uncle Walter that he should be good.
And do all the things that we said he should.
I think he would rather be off in the wood.
I'm afraid we might lose Uncle Walter for good.

We begged and we pleaded,
"Oh, please won't you stay?"
We managed to keep him at home for a day.
But the bears all barged in and they took him away.
Now he's dancing with pandas,
We don't understand it.
The bears all demand at least one dance a day!

You're too much! This is cute, and I'm looking forward to checking it out. I've never heard of this. It seems my childhood was lacking.
