Today's Drive up to Paulina Lake:

This morning Cary and I took Darlene and Frances into La Pine to eat breakfast at Gordy's.  It was busy, but the food and service were great, as always.  Afterward, we bought gas and then headed up the mountain to Paulina Lake Lodge.  They just opened up for the season yesterday.  There were probably around 20 boats out on the lake.  It was so beautiful up there.  We took a bunch of pictures and then visited with Todd, Karen and Gary.  We were there for about a half an hour, and then headed back down the mountain. We stopped at the viewpoint for a few more pictures.  A wonderful, wonderful day!

No wonder you carry three cameras! I wouldn't want to chance missing that view either. Beautiful, and I nice way to start my Monday.

Ha! Hi Becky and Lisa, glad you liked the pictures. It was breathtaking. It is part of our spring routine, to go the 13/14 miles up the hill to see the lake as soon as they open the road. They still do have a lot of snow, and the lake was frozen over just last week. It wasn't that cold when we got there, 46*, but that isn't too bad when the wind isn't blowing.

It is also so nice to show people from out of town how pretty it is. Now, when everything melts, there is another lake, many campgrounds, a drive to the top of the peak, a huge obsidian flow and beautiful waterfalls to see also.

Well I guess the Pacific Northwest is called "God's Country" for a reason. Sounds breathtaking.
