Tablescape #9: Cheerful Yellow

Oregon Gifts of Comfort and Joy ~ Kathy Matthews

Earlier today, I set up two tablescapes.  This is the one that I got done with first, so I quickly added it to Lady Katherine's and Marty's meme's (please see how to link to them at the end of this post). I hope that you guys enjoy looking at my tablescape as much as I enjoyed setting it up.

Like everything in our home, most of the things shown here are sentimental.  I've only had the vintage yellow quilt since Kylie was here in January, but it is already sentimental.  I can't help it.  It runs in my blood.

The china is "Temptation" by Noritake.
I got it when I got married for the first time in 1978.

That green pitcher was one that my Mom used when she was a little girl at the breakfast table (Mom and my Aunties gave it to me after Grandma T. died).  I found the old bottles (with the blue ribbons) in the basement of the camp house at Camp Christian back in 1996.

The white candlesticks were my Grandma T.'s also.  The yellow pitcher that is holding up the plant is a thrifty find ... so are the pink square platters.  So was the doll.  The yellow round platter was given to me by a rich lady that I cleaned house for once-upon-a-time, as a Christmas gift.

The chairs came from Ross Dress-for-Less.  They are pretty, but you get what you pay for.  If you weigh more than 25 pounds, I wouldn't sit on the one on the left.  The legs are held up with gallon canning jars.  I bought it years ago, the only time that I have ever won big on a video machine ($400).  My hands were shaking when I cashed in the ticket.  As soon as we got to the car, I called my Dad, Ralph-the-Jock.  He was so proud of me!  Dad likes it when people win.  I went to Ross the next day, and bought nice things for our home with the winnings.  Hey, at least I got something to show for it!

The hand-painted tulip goblets were given to Cary and me as a wedding gift, and so was the silverware.  The roses were on top of our wedding cake.  I made the little hearts last month.

Now there is a nice shadow shot for Sunday!

I bought the little green wooden radio at the outlet store.
I just thought it was cute.

I used to save every rose that Cary gave me.  At first, he gave me lots and lots of them.  After almost 8 years, that appears to have tapered off a bit.  These are some of the heads off of some of those roses.
