Last May, I decided to design my very first Tablescape. I decorated our dining room table and practiced my photography on it. I enjoyed this very much, it didn't take all that much time, and I was very happy with the results. Many of you are new readers since then, so I am posting it again and linking it to A Stroll Through Life's Tabletop Tuesday linky party. You can click on the photos to enlarge them for better viewing, if you want to. You might notice that I have changed the dining room curtains since then, and used the same quilt as I did for the Mardi Gras setting from last week.

"The purple and gold dish is an old treasure from my Grandma T., and so are the candle holders.

The tablecloth is the 75-year-old quilt that my Great Grandma Johnson made in Arkansas. She then gave it to my Grandma and Grandpa Johnson as a wedding present. The front chairs were Uncle John and Aunt Signa's.

The hand painted tulip glasses were given to us as a wedding gift by friends Kathy and John. Do your recognize my hand painted wine bottle candle holders?

My daughters, Kari and Kristin gave us the lead crystal water goblets. The stainless silverware is 30 years old and we use it as our everyday stuff. It is Community Stainless by Oneida, and the pattern is Louisiana. My long lost friend Deanna gave me the green teacup and saucer, and the others came from Grandma T. The napkins are really little tea towels that I bought from the dollar store today.

The only thing I regret is that one of the candles blew out and I didn't notice it. Oh, well. I am not feeling that much of a perfectionist to go back and redo everything. I've had a busy day. The table is still very beautiful, and I had fun experimenting with different lighting and camera settings. It was also fun to get my stuff out of the hutch and enjoy them again."
It is kind of neat to see how my photography has improved. This was when I was first learning my new camera and what the different settings could do. It is also amazing what using Picassa will do, verses Windows Gallery. I think it was neat that though one candle was out, it didn't bother me enough to not post the entire photo.
My Mom always says, "Progress, not perfection!", and I can see how my picture taking has progressed over the past year. Yay! Oh, hey, if you want to do a tablescape but are afraid that it won't turn out like the fancy ones in the memes, don't worry about ... just do it! You will be happy that you did, and it will be great practice for your photography skills. I'm just sayin'.
Today, March 23, 2011, and I am entering this into Marty's Tabletop Tuesday. To see some more great tabletops of all kinds, please click here.

What a beautiful table scape that is just full of memories. It would be a shame to mess it up with people and food.
Beautiful!! I love the homey feeling...the idea of a quilt for a tablecovering just blows me away. And the contrast of the color wheel...orange and blue is absolutely perfect.

Beautiful table! Love everything you inherited from Grandma. The quilt is gorgeous and I love all the colors on the table....Christine
Oh Kathy, That turned out great. So pretty!!! The quilt is a wonderful, clever idea--I'm pretty sure I would never let anyone actually "eat" off of a 75 year old quilt though. I have several that my Mother and Grandmother made, I have yet to display them--need to think of a "safe way" to have them out. Have a pleasant day. Mickie :)
Such a soft, beautiful tablescape and I must say: I absolutely LOVE your chairs! They are so pretty, so great, so classic!
Best,
Gloria
Really nice - I love the flowers!
